Welcome to Highlighting the North East!

About the Blog

Whether you’re visiting this awe-inspiring part of England for the first time, or you’re lucky enough to call it your home, this blog is set to serve as your first port-of-call for ideas of new and exciting things to do and places to see in the North East.

About me

Having lived in Newcastle my whole life, and having studied at Durham University and now at Newcastle Medical School, I am no stranger to the delights of this region. As a History graduate, my spare time is often dedicated to visiting the places that represent the tumultuous and fascinating past of the North East. However, if I’m not doing that I’m most likely walking my dog along the many beautiful beaches on the Northumberland coastline (stopping at several of the dog-friendly pubs on the way) or attending to the other love of my life: good food.

What to expect?

Expect blog posts about new restaurants, tearooms and bars that I have discovered. Expect posts about the plethora of fun things to do in Newcastle and its surrounding areas. Expect highly excitable descriptions of little ‘gems’ I have found in off-the-beaten track places. Finally, expect all things North East.
