Last Friday I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening night of Meat:Stack‘s latest venture, based in Newcastle’s beloved Grainger Market. In recent times, the Grainger Market has become the place to go in Newcastle for fab lunchtime food, and I couldn’t think of a better addition than the guys at Meat:Stack!
I first tried a Meat:Stack burger at the Battle of the Burgers at Wylam Brewery last year, where their juicy, cheesy, burger-tastic slider won the whole competition. Following this, I just had to go to their base at No.28 where I came to the conclusion that these burgers really were the best in the toon, and even the whole of the North East! Meat:Stack pride themselves in using freshly-ground 100% salt aged beef in their real American cheeseburgers, and in my opinion it really pays off.
The Meat:Stack takeaway counter in the Grainger Market offers everything from a ‘Breakfast Stack’ (double sausage, smoked bacon and egg in a toasted muffin) that looks like it would smash a McMuffin out of the park, a mouth-watering range of cheeseburgers, and even a slightly healthier burger called ‘Golden State’, complete with avocado and red onion.
I wanted to try one of their simpler burgers, to really get a sense of how good the Meat:Stack’s offerings really are, and so I opted for the ‘West Coast Classic’. This double cheeseburger with Meat:Stack’s secret sauce, crisp lettuce and fixings was the tastiest, most satisfying takeaway food I’ve eaten in a long time. The burger was almost too big to fit in my mouth (just the way great burgers should be), as it was jam-packed with ingredients that even tasted like they were good quality, like the juiciest beef patty you can imagine. Coupled with some great beef dripping fries that tasted just like chips from the chippy, and some complimentary Brewdog beers, I was in absolute heaven!
The guys at Meat:Stack not only cook up a mean cheeseburger, but they’re really friendly as well and will no doubt make you feel right at home at their Grainger Market stall. Whether you’re looking to start your day with the ultimate breakfast sandwich and hash browns, or you’re looking for somewhere new to spend your lunch break in Newcastle, the Meat:Stack seems like the obvious place to me. Great craic, great service and even better burgers – Meat:Stack may seem like just a market stall, but in reality it’s where burger miracles really do happen!
A massive thank you to everyone at Meat:Stack for having me at the press launch, I have no doubt you’ll be seeing me again very soon!
